Do I need a referral to see Sue or Jennifer?

No, you do not need a referral. You can book in to for an appointment any time you like!  Please just book online or by phone.

Can I get any rebates for seeing a dietitian?

Private Health Funds give rebates for seeing an Accredited Practising Dietitian.  If you are in a Private Health fund, you are probably eligible to get a refund for seeing Sue or Jennifer through your ‘extras’ cover. You may like to check the exact amounts with your fund, as this varies for funds and your level of coverage.

You may be eligible to receive a rebate from Medicare. Ask your General Practitioner (GP) if they can provide you with the Care Plan, so you can then get a rebate from Medicare. Sue and Jennifer can process your Medicare rebate at the time of your appointment.

What are the fees at Wahroonga Dietitian?

Initial Dietitian consultation fee:    $182.00. Expect to spend an hour with Sue or Jennifer for your initial consultation.

Extended review consultation fee: $140.00- $180. Extended appointments are 45-60 minutes. The fee will be based on how long you spend in the review appointment. ie: whether you spend 45 minutes, 50 minutes or 60 minutes in the review appointment.

Standard Review consultation fee:  $91.00.  Expect to spend 30 minutes with Sue or Jennifer for review consultations.

Home visits:

  • Initial home visit fee:  $300
  • Review home visit fee: $180

Home visit fees may be charged at a higher rate if significant travel time is involved.

Is there a cancellation fee?

We understand that sometimes you are unable to keep an appointment. If cancellations are necessary, please give as much notice as possible. This enables Sue and Jennifer to offer your appointment to someone else. Last minute cancellations make things difficult for both practitioners. Please be considerate. If you are repeatedly inconsiderate, you may receive a cancellation fee.

Does Wahroonga Dietitian do home visits?

Yes, Sue can do home visits to nearby suburbs. Please see above for fees.

Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?

It is not necessary to bring anything to your first appointment.

If however, you have some blood test results, Sue and Jennifer would be grateful if you could bring them them, as this gives them a better idea of your current health issues and situation.

Do I need to do a Food Diary before I come?

You do not need to do a food diary.

If you would like to do a food diary and bring it, this is always useful, and Sue and Jennifer are very happy to see it.

Does Wahroonga Dietitian conduct telehealth appointments?

We can do the telehealth appointment on your device, so we can see each other, or by telephone. We can share our screen, so we can show you information. We can also email copies of the information following your appointment.

During telehealth appointments, you receive the same high level of expert guidance and support as you do in person. Your concerns will be resolved equally as well as during to face-to-face consultations.

The telehealth system used by Wahroonga Dietitian complies with Australian Privacy Principles, and all appointments remain confidential.

How do I get to the appointment at Wahroonga Dietitian, Redleaf Ave?

Parking is available behind and underneath the building on Redleaf Ave.

Parking is also available in the Wahroonga Village Council carpark behind the village shops, accessible via Railway Avenue or Coonanbarra Road.

The rooms in Redleaf Ave are a short 3-5 minute walk from Wahroonga train station.

Look for the red brick building just near the roundabout.

How can an appointment at Wahroonga Dietitian help me? I already know what I should be doing.

Knowing what you ‘should’ be doing may not be enough.

If you feel that you are struggling, then talking to either Sue or Jennifer may be just the thing to help you along.

Eating involves a complex interplay between a huge range of influencing factors.

Sometimes it can be about your relationship with food, how you think about food, and how you think about your body.

Sue and Jennifer are skilled in helping you to make sense of it all. They are skilled in guiding you with how to think about food and eating in a more helpful way.

With this I mind, they do not just ‘tell you what to eat’.

Instead, they can help with pulling things together for you and guiding you in a way to help make a difference.

Sue and Jennifer aim to help resolve your food and eating dilemmas.

Everything they discuss with you will be with the aim of it feeling manageable, and totally tailored to you and your personal situation.

Why do I need a Dietitian?

Accredited Practising Dietitians (APDs)keep up to date with research and information relating to food and nutrition, and how this relates to medical conditions. Sue and Jennifer are Accredited Practising Dietitians.

As such, they base their discussions on facts, understood by keeping up to date with the latest scientific evidence.

Sue and Jennifer use a client-centred approach to help you with your food and eating dilemmas and they understand that you are different to everyone else. Your health and lifestyle issues are what makes you different.

Sue and Jennifer are committed to helping you with whatever food and diet-related issues that you feel you are struggling with.

All advice, guidelines and recommendations given by Sue and Jennifer are based on scientific research but tailored to meet your specific needs. The advice is individualised to suit your situation.

Does Wahroonga Dietitian see people with eating disorders?

No, neither Sue nor Jennifer consider themselves adequately trained to see people with eating disorders. They can certainly recommend another Dietitian who might be suitable.

Does Wahroonga Dietitian see children?

Yes, both Sue and Jennifer love helping children and teenagers, as well as all other ages.

If you are seeking advice for your baby, they can recommend another Dietitian who has more up-to-date training in this specific area of Dietetics.

Do your rooms have accessibility access?

Yes, there is accessibility parking behind and underneath the building. There is lift access up to the rooms. There is also plenty of space within the room.
