Managing Your Weight

It is easy to be swept up by the ‘promise’ of weight loss if you ‘follow the diet’. In the initial stages a ‘diet’ can seem like the answer to your problems.

You have no doubt tried a weight loss diet before, or been seriously promising yourself that you ‘must’ do that soon.

Part of you may be putting off the day that you ‘start the diet’ as you think it will be ‘hard’.

Weight management is much more than ‘going on a diet’.

Are you confused about what to eat?

To diet or not to diet? Is that your question?

Are you struggling with what else to do about your weight if you don’t ‘go on a diet’?

Weight management is much more than just knowing what to eat less, or what to avoid.

In fact, recent research suggests that focusing entirely on what you ‘can’t eat’ may in fact make it harder to achieve your goals.

Sue can cut through the hype, and explain to you the facts.

Sue’s advice is based on evidence from large scale clinical trials of what ’works’ and what does not help.

Sue can help in the following ways:

  • Learn how to manage your weight over the long term
  • learn how to manage your shape without focussing entirely on the scales
  • learn how to improve your health parameters (such as blood sugar levels, blood pressure, blood lipids including cholesterol and triglycerides) even if your weight stays at a similar number
  • learn how to improve your energy levels, so you feel that have enough energy to enjoy some exercise
  • Sue will direct discussions in such a way to help you understand how you can make positive steps forward in helping with long term health and weight management

PLEASE NOTE:

Sue is not the ‘food police’. On the contrary. Read on to understand why talking to Sue could really be helpful.

Sue can:

  • Explore factors which drive your food choices
  • Help you to think about hunger and satiety, and which food choices might be more helpful
  • Teach you how to tune into your cues for eating
  • Help you to fine tune your food choices
  • Explain relevant food facts if she feels they are important in helping you
  • Help you to explore how to monitor your ‘success’ without judging yourself only by what the scales are saying
  • Help you feel more confident about how to manage your eating patterns
  • Explore what might be realistic in terms of how much your weight might change
  • Teach you how to manage your food and eating, so you do not have to repeatedly ‘go on a diet’
  • Improve your relationship with food
  • Teach you how to enjoy a wider variety of food without feeling guilty
  • Explain how you can learn to feel happier about your body shape with less obsession about food, calories and the scales

Recommendations to you will be based on your current personal situation and lifestyle. This is all about you!

If you can relate to some of these issues, and are feeling ready to sort them out, make an appointment now to come and talk to Sue.
